Manage the license, expiry and renewal
Check the expiry before it arrives and know which administrative tasks remain available when a trial or temporary license ends.
Check the license installed on this server
Open Administration → System and utilities → License, then Manage license. A trial lasts seven days; a temporary license ends on its displayed expiry date, including a license purchased for twelve months. A perpetual license has no expiry of the right to use the software. Software use and commercial update coverage are separate: an update package does not extend a temporary license.
Read the administrative expiry notice
During the last fourteen days of a valid time-limited license, Administration shows the expiry date and time in UTC, the days remaining and a link to manage or renew it. A seven-day trial is already within this notice window. Read the notice in the application; there is no automatic license-expiry email.
Sign in after the trial or temporary license expires
The operational pages are suspended when the license expires. From the license page, choose Administrative access and sign in with an active administrator account. Enter its password and complete the two-factor verification required by that account. Network restrictions, login limits and account checks still apply. A non-administrator account cannot open the limited administration panel.
Use the limited administration panel
The panel is available after a normal license expiry. It lets the administrator preserve configuration and investigate the installation while arranging renewal. A missing or invalid license and an incorrect server clock require their own diagnosis; they do not automatically grant the same access.
| Area | Available after expiry |
|---|---|
| License | Manage or renew the license; enter a valid key or import the supplied license file. |
| Checks and previews | Run Verify installation and preview recording retention using the saved retention period. The preview does not delete recordings. |
| Logs | Read and filter the Access log and Operational action log. Their settings cannot be changed here. |
| Export settings | Download a password-protected configuration backup or an available safety copy, with the requested administrator confirmation. |
| Suspended web functions | Operational views and reports, recording operations, settings changes, configuration restore and web updates are unavailable through this access. |
Preserve settings without confusing them with a full backup
In Export settings, choose a password for the archive and provide the administrator confirmation requested by the form. Store the archive and its password safely. This backup contains the supported application configuration and accounts; it does not contain CDR, SQL call history, audio recordings or the license. Restore is unavailable from the limited web panel. Full-server recovery follows its separate backup procedure.
Know which scheduled activities continue
Expiry does not remove or recreate the installed schedule. Each activity keeps its own requirements and saved settings; the PBX continues handling calls independently of the Obelisk interface.
| Activity | After expiry |
|---|---|
| Recording AI, live-history logger, weekly and monthly reports | Wait for an active license. Renewal does not by itself prove that every missed report or missing live-history sample has been recovered. |
| Telephone SQL import and technical maintenance | Continue according to their existing schedule and configuration. |
| Security alerts | Remain available with the configured mail service and security recipients. |
| Audio cleanup and retention | Previews remain available. Deletions continue only if the corresponding setting was already enabled; expiry does not enable deletion. |
Renew and verify that operational access returns
Choose Manage or renew the license. Enter the valid activation key supplied for the installation, or open Activation with support and import the license file supplied by Obelisk. Online activation needs Internet access from the server; after activation there is no mandatory periodic online check. A trial that has ended cannot be restarted by requesting another demo or reinstalling. Once the license is active, sign in again and check the required views and scheduled activities.
Read an activation error before retrying
If the page reports an incorrect server clock, have its date and time corrected and try again. For an unavailable key, invalid file or installation mismatch, keep the displayed message and contact Obelisk with the installation details requested by support. Do not delete the existing license or change the installation folder to try to restart the trial.
