Customize branding and interface text

Set the shared application identity and selected interface wording while keeping personal display choices in Preferences.

Obelisk documentation

Open shared customization

Go to Administration → Customization. The branding editor changes the name and logo displayed by Obelisk. The text editor manages language-specific overrides. Decide which changes should apply to all users before editing: a team leader’s preferred theme or layout belongs in their own account.

Edit a small set of changes

Use the branding preview to inspect the proposed identity. For text, select English, Spanish or Italian and search for the wording to change. Overrides are language-specific: changing an Italian entry does not translate its English or Spanish counterpart.

  1. Save the brand

Enter the display name and choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP logo accepted by the editor. Review the preview, then save the branding section.

  2. Review text overrides

Edit the relevant entries, preserve any substitution placeholders and save. Use the changed-only filter to review the customized wording without scanning the full catalogue.

Preview the brand and preserve dynamic text

The brand form and text editor serve different purposes. The first supplies the shared name and logo; the second changes selected interface wording in one language. To adjust queue names, use Operational views instead. For a personal theme or button shape, use Preferences.

  1. Prepare and preview the logo

Use a supported PNG, JPEG or WebP image and review its preview before saving the brand. Check the displayed name and avoid placing essential wording inside an image that becomes small in the navigation.

  2. Find the exact text

Choose the language and search for the wording or key. Use the changed-only filter to review existing overrides and move through the paginated entries. Save the intended edits and verify the page where the text appears.

  3. Keep replacement fields intact

When a message contains placeholders for names, counts or other values, retain the same placeholders. The editor validates them; changing or removing one can make a replacement invalid. Review the final message with real displayed values.

Inspect the actual interface

Reopen an affected page in each edited language. Check the logo against light and dark backgrounds, long labels on narrow screens and messages containing dynamic values. Confirm that labels remain understandable beside the unchanged terms used elsewhere in the application.

Correct or reset an override

If wording is misleading, correct the matching language entry or use the provided reset controls for the intended scope. A branding change does not rename PBX queues, change account permissions or alter report calculations. Keep queue aliases in Operational views rather than rewriting unrelated interface labels.

Use the controls, understand what changes

Brand preview and language-text edits are separate. Select the text language before searching, retain its dynamic placeholders and verify the actual page after saving. Changing a shared label does not translate the other languages or rename a FreePBX queue.
