Troubleshooting

The installer cannot reach FreePBX

Check the FreePBX address and read the installer’s message. An HTTP or certificate warning lets you choose whether to continue; a connection failure needs to be corrected.

Obelisk documentation

Recognize the symptom

The installer stops while checking the FreePBX website. The PBX itself must be able to reach this address, even if it opens on your computer. This check runs during installation, before database creation. The earlier --check command does not test the website or its certificate.

Possible causes

Read the message to identify the problem. The address may be wrong or unreachable from the PBX. The server may use HTTP while you entered HTTPS. The certificate may be self-signed, expired or issued for a different name. A separate error means the web server is not blocking Obelisk’s private files.

Check before changing anything

Enter the address you use to open FreePBX, without adding /obelisk. HTTP and HTTPS are both accepted, including private IP addresses such as http://192.168.1.10. Use the connection check in the linked guide. If the address works only from your computer, ask the server administrator to check access from the PBX.

Take a targeted action

For HTTP, the installer warns that the connection is not encrypted and asks whether to continue. For an invalid HTTPS certificate, it explains the problem and asks whether to accept it for this installation check. Answer y to continue or n to stop; pressing Enter chooses n. This choice also applies to a certificate that does not match a private IP. An unreachable address or unprotected private files must still be corrected.

Verify the result

Resume the interrupted installation from the same kit using the linked guide. If you need to correct the address, the guide shows --resume --base-url: it is available only before the web check has succeeded and installation changes have started. The installer repeats its checks and confirms that the public test file is reachable and private files are blocked. If it still stops, send the exact error message to Obelisk support.
