Installation & first steps

Activate Obelisk and sign in

Once installation is complete, activate Obelisk and sign in with the administrator username and password created during setup. You can then complete or change the settings from the Administration menu.

Obelisk documentation

Complete the activation

  1. Open the installed application

Open the FreePBX web address you used during installation and add /obelisk/activate.php. For example: https://pbx.example.com/obelisk/activate.php. Keep the HTTP or HTTPS choice you made during setup. If you chose a different application folder, use it in place of /obelisk.

  2. Choose the available license route

Select the seven-day trial or enter the activation code you received. After activation, sign in with the Obelisk username and password created during the initial installation.

  3. Use the application administrator

Sign in with the Obelisk administrator credentials produced during installation. Store them in your protected credential system. Do not try the SQL application password as a web login, and do not share an administrative account with supervisors who need narrower permissions.

Complete the initial configuration in this order

Open Administration. You will also find the expandable Complete your configuration checklist, with links to the settings to review. Complete the first two steps below before starting to use Obelisk: they align queue, extension and trunk names with FreePBX, even when the installer has already retrieved some information.

  1. Required: retrieve queues and extensions for live views

Go to Administration → Operational views → Dashboard & Wallboard. Click Refresh list from PBX, check the proposed queue numbers and names, then click Save. This prepares the names for Dashboard, Wallboard and Videowall. Saved custom names are preserved unless you choose to replace them. Repeat the same procedure for extensions in both the Extension Monitor and Status sections: click Refresh list from PBX, check extension numbers and names, then save each section if requested or if you have changed its settings.

  2. Required: retrieve queue and trunk names for reports

Open Administration → Database and procedures. In Queues, click Retrieve queue names from PBX and check the result. Then open Trunks and click Refresh list from PBX. These catalogues supply report names and are separate from live-view names. The retrieval preserves saved customizations; check that the expected queues and trunks are listed.

  3. Check connections and report settings

In Administration → System and utilities, check AMI under Asterisk and databases, the recording folder under Recordings and log files, and the automatic-report language under Identity and language. If you need to adjust telephone-number recognition, use Database and procedures → E.164 numbering. Save any changes.

  4. Set up email and AI when you need them

Email and AI are optional. In System and utilities, configure SMTP, sender and recipients if you want emailed reports. Configure the Gemini key and model if you want AI analysis. Use the links in Complete your configuration to find these settings, then test the functions you enable.

Preserve the installation identity

The expected result is an activated application that accepts its administrator login. A trial is tied to the machine: reinstalling does not start a new trial. Moving to another server or application folder requires the provider’s transfer procedure. Keep the license file with your protected full backup. A configuration-only backup does not include it. Once access works, continue with the installation checks and a real sample call.
